“Fifty” - Nature's beauty, casted with care
This collection was inspired by turning fifty and getting back to the basics of nature’s beautiful different wood species and integrating them with the amazing properties of resin, light, pigments, depth, shadows, and wood burning.
This collection was created in 50 days and over 500 hours. I did all my own cutting, sawing, grinding, sanding, pouring, casting, clamping, lifting, ripping, planing, edging, and drilling. To bring this collection to life it pushed me to my physical and mental limits and represents an accomplishment beyond my wildest imagination. This is my most raw and emotional impactful collection to date.
A Lesson in Patience
Patience is a virtue that I do not possess. There is no rushing when working with clay, each layer must be carefully sculpted and allowed to dry before adding additional layers for depth and texture. Embracing patience teaches us to trust in the process of growth and transformation, understanding that progress takes time and perseverance. It is through patience that we can cultivate strength and discipline and this collection has undoubtedly served as a powerful lesson in the virtue of patience for me, reminding me of the importance of enduring and trusting the process rather than only focusing on the result.
Sculpting with Texture
This collection is about embracing imperfections and celebrating the beauty of tactile art. Exploring many different textures in art gave me the interactive and sensory experience that I crave. By exploring textures in my creations, I was able to create visually dynamic, interactive, 3-dimensional pieces that add depth and dimension to the walls to making the room come alive.
Trusting Your Instincts
This collection was inspired by my imagination and making a few mistakes along the way. In doing so it led to many new ideas and unique solutions and aspects of my work that I would never been able to create otherwise. This Collection is about listening to your inner voice, following your intuition, embracing your imagination, and by trying new mediums that create art that you may not have discovered otherwise. By trusting yourself and being willing to take risks, you can push the boundaries of your creativity and achieve great results in the process.
